February 2020 marks the 10th anniversary edition of the Port of Antwerp’s Annual Reception. To commemorate this special occasion, VIP guests from India and Antwerp have shared insights on global business at the celebratory event, in Mumbai, India.
During the festive event, Mr. Sanjay Sethi, Chairman of JNPT and Mr. Kristof Waterschoot, Managing Director of APEC signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish the JNPT Antwerp Port Training & Consultancy Foundation as the “Port and Logistics Training Centre of Excellence” in the presence of Guest of Honor, Mr. Wouter De Geest, Chairman of Flanders’ Chamber of Commerce & Industry (VOKA).
The JNPT-Antwerp Training Centre of Excellence for India and its surrounding countries will aim to offer industry relevant courses with practical implications in future developments. The first such course on “Handling of Dangerous Goods” was conducted at the center this week by Mr. Kurt Van Passen, an expert of the Port of Antwerp, together with the Belgium Customs Attaché, Ms. Babette Desfossez. The success of this and any and all following programs, is due to the extensive efforts made by JNPT, APEC, Mr. Koen Cornilly, Manager Port Projects at Port of Antwerp International (PAI) and Mr. Raj Khalid, local representative of APEC and PAI.
The JNPT Antwerp Port Training and Consultancy Foundation – established under a partnership between JNPT and Port of Antwerp’s APEC-Antwerp/Flanders Training Centre – began providing courses in 2015 and has conducted more than 30 programs for over 500 participants from the Indian Major Ports, Private Terminals, Maritime Boards, and Ancillary Port Organizations.
